Lake Tahoe Ski Resort Opening Dates!
November Blog, 2021. With cooler temperatures and heavy snowfall, Tahoe-area ski resorts are opening up again soon and have announced the OPENING DATES!
A big storm a few weekends ago, spurred by an atmospheric river, dropped several inches of snow around Lake Tahoe, the storm dropped approximately 4-24 inches of snow on the eastern Sierra below 8,000 feet and 3-4 inches above 8,000 feet with in a few days just before the holiday weekend.
Palisades Tahoe, the new name of Squaw Valley, decided to move its official opening day up nearly a month to Friday, Oct. 29 after receiving over 3 feet of snow on its upper mountains last weekend.
Palisades Tahoe will only be open on weekends as weather and conditions permit, with early season lifts available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Daily operations will begin starting Nov. 24.
This ski season will be only the third time in 72 years that Palisades Tahoe will be open in October. According to the resort, the last time they were able to open in October with comparable terrain was in 2004.
Here are the opening dates for ski resorts in the Tahoe area this season:
- Palisades Tahoe: Friday, Oct. 29
- Mt. Rose: TBA, estimated to open on Saturday, Nov. 6
- Heavenly, Northstar: Friday, Nov. 19
- Boreal: Monday, Nov. 23
- Sierra-at-Tahoe: Thursday, Nov. 25
- Sugar Bowl: Friday, Nov. 26
- Kirkwood: Friday, Dec. 3
- Diamond Peak: Thursday, Dec. 9
- Homewood: Sunday, Dec. 11
